Douglas Lee Days Obituary (1949 - 2023)

Douglas L. Days November 21,1949 - August 7, 2023 Doug Days passed away peacefully after a 5-month battle with cancer. He is survived by his son, Jake, daughter-in-law Eileen and his 3 beloved grandchildren. A memorial service and Celebration of Life is being planned for early September. Stay tuned to his FB page for details. Born at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Yakima, WA to Howard and Edith Days. Doug had one brother Robert Erwin Days. Many family members are from Eastern Washington and Oregon. Doug attended elementary school in Yakima till the family moved to Seattle in 1956. He attended elementary school at Frank B Cooper, Jr. High at Madison and high school at West Seattle H.S. Doug played soccer, basketball and baseball. He gravitated towards baseball growing up, and played Little League 10-12 (was an All Star at 12). He played Babe Ruth at 13-14 years of age and high school ball for one year. After high school Doug went into the workforce and eventually ended up working at Hussman NW with his dad for a couple years. Having had an assortment of jobs and always being a steady employee, he finally ended up at Shoreline Schools where he met Rosemary Smith, and they were married in 1974. Doug became a father to son Jason in 1975. In 1977 Doug finally found his work niche and began selling real estate for Advance Properties. Doug moved to Preview Properties and spent the next 30 years with them with a total of 38 years selling real estate from 1977-2016. He was a manager, mentor to the new agents and friend to many. He developed close relationships with Larry Johnson (a banker) and his family that continued over 25 years to this day. Doug has been close friends with Kathy Aversano, Cris Blair, Pak Ung, Brian Armstrong and many others. On November 9th. 2013 Jake married Eileen, and Doug became a dotting grandpa in 2016. After bouts with health issues Doug worked real estate part time and held part time jobs for fun. Doug was happy about life and happy to have great friends. Doug was a proud volunteer at Children's Hospital, at an early age was in the Big Brother program and sponsored 13 people in AA wanting sobriety.
